The work is really becoming more about the Numbers and the word ‘IMAGE'. As an artist, I feel compelled to make a visual ‘Image’... and most things involve numbers. The primary objective involves the inclusion and integration of relatively sequential numbers into the subject matter of the paintings and constructions.

Numbers are relevant and can be an omnipresent factor in life. From the time of day, to the amount of money that we make or spend, the distance we measure or travel, the number of people in the world or dying in Africa, to the number of years, months and days we have left, numbers are facts in everyday life. These numbered works suggest that each piece, while individual in it's own way, is also related to the others and a series. In a world awash with images, these works are attempting to claim their own place in this world of numbers. I am literally counting on my paintings to make art.

The actual original artworks are highly textural in nature. Ripped plywood has been integrated with other bits of 3D material which include artifacts of past communication mediums. Pieces of mirror and Plexiglas add life and reflection - sometimes even the reflection of the onlooker. These elements form a base for the paint.

The fractured abstract heart in the earlier work is an attempt to bring humanity and soul to the art. In dissecting this symbol, positive and negative phenomena are expressed as an integral to the cycle of life. As in life’s actual experiences, this depiction is more or less realized in some paintings than others, but as a personal life philosophy, it is always present, even if at times obscure like the art.

The later 'Edge work' is very dimensional as well and was initially inspired by the myriad of paintings stored away in gallery and museum racks. These works started out as a homage to them but have quickly taken on a character of their own. They are really wall sculptures which I call - 'Paintings on Edges.
